Lilacs, New Hampshire’s State Flower

The oldest lilacs in NH date back to 1750. They are located at the Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion in Portsmouth. The purple lilac, Syringa Vulgaris, is our official state flower. They can live for centuries and there are 1500 named varieties.
